From her start as a chemical engineer at Procter & Gamble, Nan guided manufacturing teams in two different divisions to achieve key factor performance, and later, as a brand manager, led multi-functional teams to deliver new products to the marketplace. Nan left P&G to serve as director of marketing for a privately held floral wire service before joining Habitat for Humanity to start their Earthquake Recovery Program in response to the devastating Northridge Earthquake in Los Angeles.

Upon graduating from the University of California, Berkeley Law School, Nan practiced law at the San Francisco firm of Farella Braun & Martel, where she became a trusted advisor to a wide-range of clients, from smaller family-owned businesses to Fortune 50 companies, both in the United States and abroad. Focusing on the most effective and efficient ways to avoid or resolve disputes, Nan particularly enjoyed solving complex problems involving technical issues that called upon her engineering background.
Nan’s passion for professional development, and equipping women and under-represented minorities to advance in the professions, helps her clients retain and develop valuable talent.
In addition to client work, Nan also led the 120-attorney firm’s professional development program, founded its women’s initiative, and was appointed co-chair of the American Bar Association’s national committee of women trial lawyers. While Nan was at Farella, the firm was named to Working Mother magazine’s inaugural list of the Top 50 Law Firms for Women Attorneys, and regularly appeared on the San Francisco Business Times’ annual list of “Best Places to Work in the Bay Area.”

She is a Certified Professional Coach and a graduate of the College of Executive Coaching, an accredited training program of the International Coaching Federation, and she adheres to the code of ethics of the International Coaching Federation.

Nan believes in giving back, and she is a passionate advocate for public education as a vehicle for developing the future talent pool for the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) fields as well as the law. Nan is a member of the Executive Committee of the Engineering Advisory Council at her alma mater, the University of Colorado, Boulder’s College of Engineering and Applied Science, where she received the 2012 Distinguished Engineering Alumni Award in recognition of her career accomplishments. She is also the past president of the board of directors of the Boalt Hall (Berkeley Law) Alumni Association at UC Berkeley. For her service to the law school, the UC Berkeley Trustees awarded Nan their 2006 Citation Award, and she was honored with Boalt Hall’s Alumni Achievement Award in 2010.
