I’m bound for the Big Easy today for the ABA Litigation Section’s Annual Conference. Beyond the sheer fun of New Orleans, excellent MCLE, and networking with hundreds of trial lawyers from around the country, I am excited to attend the pre-conference training being put on by the Section’s Children’s Rights Committee on how to represent unaccompanied minors in immigration proceedings. I recently volunteered with the Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network to help make sure that young children do not face immigration court without an advocate. My first client is a 5-year old girl from Central America, and I am looking forward to using my legal skills on her behalf to help address this humanitarian crisis.
