Naps Work
I’ve always thought that a quick nap during the day could help perk me up, but rarely felt comfortable trying to take a nap. Where to go? Head down on the desk? What if someone walks in? It was always too difficult, and not the norm. Now a variety of research is showing what we intuitively already know, but don’t usually do: people perform better when they are fully rested. Even if you don’t get a full night’s sleep, you can increase your productivity by taking a short daytime nap, and get even longer benefits from an hour-long nap. As the article says, the greater the demand for performance, the greater the need for renewal. So don’t wait, get started on resting more, and taking your vacation days, for peak performance!
